Strength and love. Portland Birth Photographer

It’s been a few months since my last birth, and I was absolutely thrilled to capture the birth of this little boy since his daddy wouldn’t have the chance to be there due to deployment. It was an emotional day…and evening…. for this momma who struggled to maintain contact with hubby throughout her 24 hour labor. As someone who watch from the corner of the room it was amazing to see connection and support these two people offered each other….even from thousands of miles away. She blew him kisses to say goodbye and he gave her virtual pats on the back when the contractions started to get worse.

It was inspiring.

What was particularly touching to me, recently having my own daughter, was how supportive grandma was for the entire birth. A rock when all others were gone. She was the kind of mother I only hope I can be for my daughter. A family who's daddy is deployed delivers their first baby boy. A family who's daddy is deployed delivers their first baby boy. Unfortunately, I was unable to capture the birth. After being at the hospital for 13 hours I was so incredibly disappointed that I’d have to miss it….not only for mom but for dad. Who wouldn’t have the chance to see the birth of his baby boy.

24 hours later Baby E and his big sister got a very cool surprise.

Nothing in life is much sweeter than the love that can exist inside a family.

It was TRULY a pleasure to witness it all….and in your strength and love for each other my heart has been deeply touched. I consider it an honor to have been the one to experience it and capture iy with you.

Safe travels to Dad as he heads back tomorrow. I have a feeling you’ll be missed.
